you arrive, make sure you come a few minutes early so you can stop and
pick up a cup of coffee and a donut/Danish/cookie at our snack table.
After you finish your drink/snack, enter our worship center and select
a seat either on the ground floor or in the balcony. When worship
is over, please stop by our Welcome Center located right outside our worship
center, and pick up a brochure about our ministries, a free Bible, and
a snack to take home with you.
There is no “dress code”. You will see people in jeans and t-shirts,
and people dressed in suits and dresses. The important thing is God
wants to meet with you and we would love to meet you.
We believe that
worship is at the heart of the church’s and the individual Christian’s
life. We have designed a worship service that if God-focused, participatory,
inspiring, and relevant. We believe worship should be unifying, so
we intentionally utilize various forms to be as inclusive as possible.
Scripture is presented in a variety of formats to communicate God’s truths
to our lives. Musically we use a variety of styles and instrumentation.
We have a worship band (guitars, keyboard, drums, djembe, etc.) that is
used for some congregational songs, and we use another set of instruments
(organ, piano, strings, trumpet, etc.) for others songs. We will
use videos and other media
regularly to teach and/orinspire, and we make sure time is always spent
praying as a congregation. Our pastor brings a message each week
that is part of some thematic series to bring the truths of God’s word
into our lives today. On the first Sunday of each month we share
in the Lord’s Supper (Communion), and invite any Christ-follower to participate
with us in this holy observance. Our worship service lasts about
1hour and 15 minutes.
For those of you with young children, we offer a staffed nursery for
infants up through age three (if you choose to not keep your children with
you in worship). On the 2nd-4th Sundays of each month we also offer
for those children ages 4-3rd grade a children’s message each week as part
of the worship service, then the children are dismissed to another part
of the building for a special time of learning and worship (we call this
“Children’s Church”). You don’t have to include your children in
these activities, but they are available if you so choose to.
Here you will find the faces of your friends, your neighbors;
people who care and want to share the fellowship of believers. And you
will find the opportunity to help and care for others in one of the many
ministries that the church supports. God's love is alive and moving among
the people, and we hope you will come experience it at Mt. Washington Baptist
Church.

-
Child Care is provided for kids 2-4 downstairs from the Fellowship

Serendipity is defined by Webster's New World College Dictionary
as "a seeming gift for finding something good accidentally." This diverse
class meets as an alternative small group where everyone gets to participate
in lively discussions, and good things abound!
Serendipity chooses their own Biblically-based subject
and source materials, consulting with the Sunday School Superintendent
and the Board of Education. In the past, the group has studied subjects
as diverse as Paul's letters to Timothy, Corinthians I & II, Revelation,
Self Esteem, Evangelism, and "Favorite Bible Passages."
Leadership is shared by members of the group who are willing
to facilitate for a particular session or sessions, but everyone is involved
in discussion. Members read the material given to them for each session
and are prepared to discuss it. Though the leader is responsible for keeping
the discussion moving forward, the pace through the lesson is set by the
group itself.

Chi Rho Pi Class has been meeting continuously for over 50 years,
and is centered around a weekly Bible study, but also enjoys a variety
of fellowship activities throughout the year. These regular gatherings
have nurtured many life-long friendships among class members who spend
time socializing and travelling together even outside of church activities.
The class, which averages a weekly attendance of around 40, always welcomes
visitors or new members. Lessons are lecture-based with discussion and
application and are taken from the Judson Press curriculum.
