Welcome!
The Mt. Washington Baptist Daycare, at 2021 Sutton Ave. in Mt. Washington,
is a full-day, year-round childcare facility for children from 6 weeks
to 5 years. The Daycare is open from 7:00am to 6:00pm weekdays,
and is fully licensed with the city of Cincinnati.
We are located in the lower level of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church,
and have been lovingly housed there for over twenty-five years. The MWBDC
is operated as a service to the community and is non-profit, with all funds
from tuition used to operate the Center.
Our kids are special
to us, even the ones who are adults now! Many of our kids are still best
friends with the playmates from their daycare years! |

Programming
We know the special care you want for your child when you can’t be there,
so our staff works hard to both nurture and educate. You will receive yearly
progress reports on how your child is doing, so that you are an important
part of your growing miracle. A schedule of events and projects is provided
weekly, and conferences with your caregiver are always welcome. Parents
are invited to drop in and visit their child whenever they wish; our fun
day is your fun day!
The daily program is planned
but flexible, offering a variety of developmentally appropriate activities
in all areas,
with a special emphasis on our integrated Christian curriculum. Our qualified,
professional teaching staff have years of experience in early childhood
education, and have designed a creative curriculum to meet the needs of
each child. Your child will learn and explore fun work areas in art, dramatic
play, simple woodworking, writing, and crafts.
The Preschool rooms each are
equipped with computers and fun educational software for playful education
in the basics that kids need, and short off-site trips to local parks and
attractions are always popular with our beloved children.
Some of our past fun classroom
projects have been:
-
Walking trips to the Public Library
-
Field trips to the Cincinnati Zoo and Union
Terminal Children's Museum
-
Children's Summer Luau
-
Walking trips to LaRosa's and Wendys
-
Summer Swim Days
-
Special Learning Centers: Garden Shop, Pizza
Parlor, Classroom Pond
Special events are held year-round
for our families as well. These include:
-
All Family Christmas Pot Luck Dinner
-
Annual Fall Festival
-
Family Ice Cream Social

Staff
All members of the staff have at least 15 hours, or are working towards
15 hours of Child Development or Early Childhood Education each year until
they have completed 45 hours of Child Development or Early Childhood Education,
or a two- or four-year degree in these areas. (Also accepted is a Bachelors
degree in some area of Education, supplemented with three years of continuing
education of at least four hours per year.) The Director has a degree in
Early Childhood Education, and supervises and facilitates the monthly goals
and weekly plans of the overall Daycare program.
Outdoor Fun
Running and jumping are good exercise, and your kids will love our kid-friendly
playgrounds. We want to build small and large motor skills in your growing
kids, and give them the “outside time” that keeps them fit and healthy.
Slides and climbers, a sandbox, and other playthings all beckon your kids
for fun and play. We schedule regular “rider days” for peddling fun on
the center’s trikes and riders during the fair weather, and fun indoors
in our “Muscle Room” during bad weather.
Food and Quiet Time
Our staff dietician will see that
your special angel gets a hot, well-balance lunch and healthy snacks in
the morning and afternoon to keep fueled and ready for fun the whole day.
Lunches and snacks are nutritious, state-approved, and provide one-third
of the recommended daily allowances. Whole fruit juices and grains, fruit
and vegetables will be served in place of sugared drinks and junk food.
Menus are provided in advance
for your review, and special dietary needs are important to us. (We have
been “peanut-free” for two years now, and are proud to offer that special
environment to those who need it.) We provide 2% milk for cereal in the
morning, and will store the cereals you provide for a nutritious breakfast.
Regular nap times for all kids give them the important downtime for their
growing bodies.
Security
The Center’s only outside doors
are wired for a keycode, which is issued to you when you become a Daycare
family. All staff members are fully background checked before joining the
MWBC Daycare family. Every classroom uses Sign In-Out sheet, and
we will only release children to you or a pre-authorized person.
Licensing
Daycare centers in the State of Ohio are licensed under the authority of
the Ohio Department of Human Services, and we are also licensed by the
City of Cincinnati. The Center’s licenses are posted in the office for
your review at any time. We maintain low Child-Staff ratios for the best
care to your little angel. We are also accredited with the National
Association for the Education of Young Children.
Summercare
The Center also provides a full-day summercare program for kids as old
as 12 from June to September each year. On-site fun is balanced with weekly
fun field-trips to local attractions and amusement parks, and rounded out
with outdoor play and computer fun.
If you have any more questions,
phone us or email us today! We want
to provide the loving care you need for your little angel!
